Over the years, we've seen a lot of smart glasses pop up, promising to be the future of tech, and for one reason or another, they just never really catch on.

Smart glasses are the future, but they're not there yet. Well, with maybe one exception.

Based on my experience covering some of the biggest brands in technology, being invited to private briefings, and seeing overlap in data and goals between these major companies, I firmly believe that smart glasses are poised to be as common within the next 10 years as smartwatches (or maybe even smartphones) are now.

VITURE Luma Pro XR smart glasses.

VITURE is a company that introduced their first smart glasses as a Kickstarter back in 2021. Fast forward to 2025 and they have what I think is the most compelling option available today for smart glasses.

They balance features to price to functionality so well. While the benefits for gaming and entertainment may be obvious, the opportunities for productivity were what most caught me by surprise in my month-long period testing their Luma Pro XR glasses.

Instead of trying to be an all-day computer on your face, they focus on doing one thing incredibly well: giving you a massive, private, and stunningly sharp screen for whatever you need it for.

But are they worth the pricetag? That depends on a few factors and expectations. Let's dig into the good and the bad of these smart shades.

VITURE Luma Pro: One Paragraph Review

For gaming, entertainment, and productivity anywhere, the VITURE Luma Pro XR Glasses can't be beat. The latest iteration has focused on comfort and function, while further improving display settings to give you a beautiful viewing experience wherever you are. The price will make you pause long enough to do some research (I assume that's why you're reading this). The biggest reason to hold off on these glasses is that between August and October 2025, three additional models will be released, any of which might be a better fit for features or budget compared to the Luma Pro model.

Pros

  • An absolutely massive and incredibly sharp "4K-like" virtual screen.
  • Excellent for gaming, especially with the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Highly customizable fit, including built-in prescription adjustments.

Cons

  • Proprietary connection cable.
  • Some software features, like the multi-screen workstation, are still being optimized.
  • The sheer number of models might be confusing for some.

VITURE Pro Luma: Design Overview

The VITURE Pro Luma XR Glasses have a few refinements over the previous model.

Viture Luma Pro In Case
Source: geekingout.ca
Luma Pros come with a case to hold the glasses and a connection cable.

They've opted for a translucent appearance, so you can just barely see the inner components. There's also a slick orange light on the armband that also functions as a visual indicator for the glasses' brightness.

On the underside of one armband, there's a large rocker button for adjusting volume and brightness for your media. An adjacent button is multi-functional, depending on the number of presses/press holds you do.

Physical buttons on the underside of the arms allow you to control certain functions.

On the underside of the other armband, there's a single button that adjusts the "electrochromatic film" (that's what increases or decreases the transparency of the lenses) and it can also control the previously-mentioned orange indicator lights, and adjust visuals between 2D and 3D mode (more on that, later).

New to these glasses is a front-facing camera. Currently, it helps with depth and immersion when using the glasses SpaceWalker app. While VITURE hasn't explicitly said what the plans are for the Luma Pro glasses and the camera, the upcoming Ultra version of the glasses will use a camera to support hand gestures, so it's possible some form of hand gesture could come to these glasses in a future update.

If you don't like the fact that there's a camera on these glasses, VITURE includes several little lens covers you can put on top to physically block the camera's view.

A front-mounted camera supports 6DoF (ability to detect objects moving in 3D space), which helps with functionality of the SpaceWalker app, but the cameras can easily be covered using an included shade.

The glasses don't work unless they're plugged into a device like your phone or laptop. The glasses come with a cable that has a proprietary connector on one end that attaches to the glasses' armband, and the other end of the cable is USB C.

VITURE Pro Luma Display Seeing is believeing

The main event here is the display. Writing about displays and earbuds in particular are so tough to cover, because it's something you really need to experience to understand.

Productivity Multiple Screens
Source: Viture
For gaming or entertainment, the Luma Pro's virtual display is crisp and sharp.

After testing these, it seems the focus on this model compared to the original VITURE Pro glasses was optimizing the fit (more on that, later) and dialing in the displays. Here's what you get:

  • "4K-Like" Sharpness: While the display is technically 1080p, the company says it has made so many optical improvements that users often mistake it for 4K. It's apparently 50% sharper than their last model, which was already one of the sharpest on the market. They've focused on "edge-to-edge clarity," meaning the picture is just as sharp at the sides as it is in the centre. While "4K-like" is a subjective term, I can confirm the display is shockingly good – absolutely no complaints here about the quality of the visuals.
  • Bigger and Brighter: The screen is not only sharper, but it's also 15% larger than the previous model. It can hit a peak brightness of 1000 nits, which is incredibly bright and helps make everything look more detailed and vibrant, even on a virtual display that looks to be 152 inches in its largest form.
  • Built-in Sunglasses: The glasses have electrochromatic film, which is a fancy way of saying they have dimmable lenses. With the single tap of a button, you can make the lenses go dark, so you can focus on your movie or game, even in a bright room. Tap it again to see the world around you. For an even more immersive experience, you can get goggle-like lens covers. However, in my testing, I appreciated being able to glance downward to get glimpses of the "real world" while I was gaming or working.

The optional lens shade provides a deeper level of immersion by blocking light from entering the edges of the frames.

VITURE Pro Luma: Getting the perfect fit

VITURE knows that if you're going to wear something on your face, it has to be comfortable. They've packed in a ton of adjustments.

Viture Luma Pro Ocular Adjustment

By turning this dial, you can compensate for vision correction if you normally wear glasses.
  • Myopia Adjustments: I have only a slight prescription, but for anyone who wears eyeglasses, and therefore would have issues with non-prescription smart glasses, this is huge. There is a dial on top of the frame that adjusts to match your prescription (up to -4.0D on The Luma Pro specifically).
  • Magnetic Nose Pads: The glasses come with different-sized nose pads that snap on and off with magnets, making it super easy to find the right fit for your face.
  • Adjustable Arms: The arms (or temples) of the glasses can be tilted up and down to get the angle just right. They make a tactile click as you adjust.

I have used the original Pro glasses, and I'd say the customization of the fit was easily among the top three improvements to the glasses.

Luma Nosepad
Source: Viture

Don't sleep on the Nose Pads. Actually try out all three different sizes. When I first put on my glasses, the ones installed felt great. But what I didn't consider is the nosepads aren't just for feel; they impact the viewing angle.

Basically, the default size, while it felt great, resulted in a few where the upper part of the display was almost cut off by the angle of the glasses. Swapping in the largest nosepads was better, but instead, the bottom of the display was a little too close to the edge. The middle size ended up being just right.

Various sizes of nosepads allow customization for your viewing angle.

Don't skip the adjustment phase between the nosepads and the arms. It's meant to be custom-fit just for you, so take the time to customize!

VITURE Luma Pro: Are they good for gaming?

Gaming on the go is absolutely incredible with the Viture Luma Pro glasses. This is where they really shine, and since the Switch 2 is my newest console, I've really enjoyed testing these glasses out with that device specifically.

Imagine playing the Donkey Kong Bananza or Mario Kart World Tour game not on the Switch's 7.9-inch screen, but on a massive 152-inch display while you're on an airplane, enjoying your coffee break at work, or on the couch while your spouse is watching trash reality TV on the big screen.

VITURE is positioning these glasses as the "first-ever on-the-go XR experience for Switch 2."

It does require a separate dock (which also adds battery life to the Switch 2). I've tested this, and it works great. There's even a mount to hold the dock to your console (I don't have this, but I am quite curious because I think it would improve the experience of gaming on Switch instead of having the dock sitting next to me on my seat or resting in my lap).

You can plug two pairs of glasses into the same source for multiplayer gaming or watching movies.

Additionally, if your friend has a pair of VITURE glasses (even if they're an earlier generation), they can plug into the same dock as you, and you can couch co-op on a massive display anywhere you go!

VITURE Luma Pro & PlayStation, Xbox, and Cloud Gaming Experience

If you're looking to enjoy PlayStation and Xbox games from your console, or stream from your PC or online gaming library, you may or may not be able do this with the Luma pro glasses, with varying degrees of "buts" and "ifs" to pull it off.

When setting up your VITURE glasses to use with your phone, the first thing you're going to want to do is download an app called SpaceWalker. This is the software that you'll use to navigate through your Viture settings and apps (you use your phone as a laser pointer or trackpad - SUPER cool and intuitive).

Android or Apple?

I've been using the Luma Pros with my iPhone and Mac. You can use them with PC and Android, but just FYI, I'm coming at this with my experience on Apple devices. However, in order to test the Mobile controller, I had to switch to an Android phone (more on that, shortly).

From the SpaceWalker home screen, you can launch various browser-based shortcuts. For example, you can tap into Xbox Cloud gaming, but you're using it through a browser.

You also have the option to use Remote Play with Xbox through SpaceWalker, so you can launch Xbox games relatively easily, and, then, by pairing a controller to your phone, you can play the games.

You can also use MoonWalker to discover a PC on the same network as your glasses and stream games from there.

However, because SpaceWalker uses its browser as a basis for launching these games, you're unable to access app-based services like the Xbox App, Amazon Luna, or specific games.

Or are you?

VITURE Luma Pro & 8BitDo Mobile Gaming Controller

To unlock the best gaming experience through your glasses, you're gonna want to add the custom mobile gaming controller created by 8BitDo and VITURE.

Sorry iPhone Users - not for you!

To test this accessory, I had to switch to an Android phone. I write a LOT about mobile controllers (our most popular article is here) and, unfortunately, an all-too-common thread with many mobile controllers is that iPhone users don't get the full suite of features that Android users get.

Hopefully, 8BitDo will be able to get this figured out with Apple, because this controllers is absolutely fantastic.

This expandable mobile controller allows you to slide your smartphone into the controller. You plug your VITURE glasses into the controller's top-facing USB port. Then, instead of using MoonWalker, you launch individual mobile games (like Genshin Impact or Death Stranding), or you fire up the Xbox app and Remote Play titles from your console or the cloud (if you have a GamePass Ultimate Membership) and enjoy your favourite titles on your new smart glasses.

While iPhones fit this controller (even with the case on), unfortunately, the phone doesn't recognize the controller as an input device.

I had no issues launching a variety of games on my phone, like Sonic, Genshin Impact, and others. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the PlayStation Remote app to work with the controller. So, while I could use the glasses with the app, it required using the app's on-screen controls instead of 8BitDo controller, so that was a disappointment.

The hardware feels great, and I'll be keeping a watchful eye on updates, so I can hopefully enjoy my PlayStation library with this controller.

Viture Pro Luma Is it good for streaming movies?

Since the primary focus of the VITURE Pro Luma is creating the best viewing experience possible, watching movies and TV shows on these glasses is incredible.

Not only will you be able to access that 152-inch-like virtual display wherever you are, you'll also be able to tap into a futuristic 3D feature that actually works well!

The glasses have a real-time 2D-to-3D conversion feature. What does that mean? You can watch almost any 2D content in immersive 3D:

  • Family videos and photos
  • YouTube videos
  • Netflix movies (on Mac/Windows)
  • Even your video games!

If you don't like the look, you can turn it off easily. However, if you love the immersive experience, you can keep it on by default.

Immersive 3d Couple

Immersive 3D looks much better through the glasses than it does in this picture.

The other shocking thing about movies and TV shows on these glasses is how incredible the audio is for you, while those around you don't hear it. The speakers on the glasses are angled perfectly, so the wearer can enjoy an earbuds-free experience without disturbing people sitting next to them.

I used these on a plane. At first, I had my AirPods in, but, eventually, I decided to see how disruptive they would be to the person next to me if I used the glasses without earbuds.

The built-in speakers provide excellent audio quality, even though they're tiny!

I continually checked in on my seatmate to confirm they couldn't hear my rewatch of Mission Impossible. Even though our heads were about a foot apart, they couldn't detect any audio from the glasses; but for me, it felt like I was back at home on my big screen TV with my surround sound system.

Vitrue Luma Pro Can you use it with your laptop?

Perhaps the most underappreciated feature of these glasses is the productivity boost you can gain when you plug them into a MacBook or Windows laptop.

Viture Pro Airplane In Hand

Using the Luma Pro glasses to work on a plane.

I am constantly working on the road. I do a national TV segment two to three times a month, plus I'm travelling around North America many times a year for tech coverage. This means I'm working on airplanes and in airports, as well as using hotel rooms as my office space.

These glasses are SO good for keeping you productive on-the-go by allowing you to use multiple display layouts to recreate dual and triple screen set-ups or have a sprawling ultrawide monitor. This requires the SpaceWalker app, which works a little differently than the mobile version. It's optimized for a laptop working experience and could be the final justification you need to convince yourself to jump in and buy these glasses.

Viture Pro Select A Layout
Source: geekingout.ca
You can choose from a variety of screen layouts when plugged into a laptop.

The laptop experience with MoonWalker is still in its early days (VITURE has been straight-forward that its feature suite isn't as robust as the mobile app), but even so, if all you want is a multi-screen set-up for your laptop on-the-go; these glasses deliver.

Which Viture glasses are right for you?

The biggest reason to not buy the VITURE Luma Pro is because the brand has a whole bunch of other models that have either just launched or are coming soon.

There's more robust versions on the way, and a dialed back one with a lower pricetag.

With just the Luma Pro, there's so much to wrap your head around (which is why this review is so long). And suddenly, there's even more models to choose from.

6. Viture New Release Comparison Chart
Source: Viture
For a comparison at a glance, see this chart.

The sheer volume of choice can be a little confusing. Here's a quick breakdown:

  • VITURE Luma Pro ($499, Available Now): This model adds a front RGB camera (for future spatial features) and a magnetic connection. It has a slightly smaller myopia adjustment range to accommodate the larger screen.

  • VITURE Luma Ultra ($599, August): The prosumer model. It has three cameras (one RGB, two depth) for high-precision 6DoF tracking and hand gestures, turning it into a true AR device.

  • VITURE Luma ($399, September): The base model. No camera, just the amazing screen and a standard USB-C connection. This is for people who just want a portable monitor.

  • VITURE Beast ($549, October): The top-of-the-line model for entertainment. It boasts the biggest, brightest screen (58° Field of View, 1250 nits) and a premium metal body. It ditches the myopia adjustments to make room for built-in 3DoF tracking, so the screen stays pinned in space as you move your head.

The Bottom Line: Is VITURE Luma Pro Worth It?

There are a lot of smart glasses available for simple things like capturing videos and listening to music. But nothing else compares to the Luma Pro when it comes to balancing features and form factor.

Viture Luma Pro Case Closed
Source: geekingout.ca

VITURE is in a class of its own for smartglasses, thanks to their futuristically advanced gaming and entertainment features and the incredibly sharp virtual screen.

While I believe any tech enthusiast would enjoy these for a variety of reasons, I think for anyone who wants to have an incredible gaming-on-the-go experience, these are a must-buy.
