Is there any task more difficult than finding the perfect gift to encapsulate how much your mother means to you?

Probably not. Until you're also a parent and then have to cover for your toddlers and come up with a great gift for your mom and a different one for your wife for Mother's Day.

The Muse S Athena - A fitness tracker for your mind, not your body.

The bad news is, not everyone is tech savvy, so you might be reluctant to go the gadget gift route.

The good news is that in the world of gadgets, there's so many great gift ideas for this special occasion.

Fortunately, my main job is learning about gadgets and then explaining how they can be genuinely useful for average people. And ahead of Mother's Day I have put serious thought into all the devices I've used over the past twelve months.

You're about to view a very thoughtful guide that factors in varying degrees of tech savviness when it comes to finding the ultimate Mother's Day gift.

How this Mother's Day Gadget Guide Works

I've decided to break this down into regular Mother's Day gift ideas and then do a separate area for luxury gift ideas.

In general, tech items can come with a high price tag. I've tried to find lower-cost options for a variety of budgets, but there are a few things that I think are exceptionally good, but also fall more into the territory of "this is your Mother'sDay/Birthday/Christmas/Everything gift combined."

So let's get started with the "regular" Mother's Day gift ideas!

Mother's Day Gadget Gift Ideas

Geeking Out Shop Swanscout 708m Shop

Charge Everything!: SwanScout Charging Station

I'm starting this Mother's Day guide with a personal favourite. Everyone needs to keep their device battery topped up and once you go with a multi-charger you'll never go back! SwanScout has chargers that keep your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all charged while also nicely displaying them. Even more rare, they have a model that works with Google Pixel devices as well! What really takes this over the top for me is how well they work as a travel charger. This folds up completely compact so it's ideal for taking on trips. And for everyday use, it cleans up the counter or bedside table by reducing the number of cables you need to top up your batteries!

Extra Cables: Long USB C Cable

Admittedly, the next two are kinda boring, but they're SO handy and practical. While most devices come with a free USB C cable, they don't necessarily factor in the reach needed to get to a good plug. Getting an extra long USB C cable is such a great gift on its own or an easy addition to round out another gift. This two-pack of Amazon basics cables gives you 6 feet of length. Provided you have a USB C style charger on hand these will be a great option for keeping your Pixel 9 conveniently charged. Through the link below you can also switch to a 9 foot option if you need a LOT of extra length.

Geeking Out Shop Belkin Boostcharge 3 Port Shop

Charge it all!: Belkin Boost Charge 3-in-1

One more boring, but practical suggestion before we get back to things with more pizzazz! A charger, is a charger, is a charger, right? Nope! Not all chargers are built the same. The thing you need to pay attention to is how many "watts" the charger is. If you get too low of a wattage your device will charge very slow (or possibly not at all). This Belkin 3-in-1 allows you to plug in everything from a smartphone to a laptop and keep those devices powered up on their own or charging simultaneously! Plus the prongs fold it, which makes this easy to slide into a purse for an everyday carry item.

Geeking Out Shop Razer Kishi Ultra Shop

Mobile Gaming Controller: Razer Kishi Ultra

My mom isn't a gamer, but my wife is. This tells me that some moms like to game. But the tricky part in adulthood is finding time to sneak in a gaming session. If you turn your phone into your primary gaming device, you can find ways to fit in more time for your favourite titles (especially if you're streaming from a console, PC, or the cloud) and enjoy the experience much more with a quality mobile gaming controller. Devices like the Razer Kishi Ultra (which we love for many reasons) leverage your phone's beautiful display and processor to create a gaming machine anywhere. Plus, Razer's Nexus software seamlessly organizes your gaming library across services and even remotely from a home computer.

Geeking Out Shop Yatuo E Ink Phone Case Shop

Family Photo Time: E-Ink Phone Case

Moms love their kids. And pictures of their kids. Chances are mom's phone is FILLED with photos she loves. Help her get those photos out of her phone and put them on a phone case so she can enjoy the family pics even more! This E-Ink phone case allows you to display any photo from your phone on the back of your case. Because it uses E-Ink, having the picture displayed on the back doesn't drain your battery. Note - if you don't go with this exact case I recommend, that's fine. But FYI, there's kinda two versions 4-colour E-Ink and 6-Colour E-Ink (much more expensive). So if you're shopping, don't spend more than $50 on a 4-colour E-Ink case since they're basically going to be all the same until you get up to the 6-Color E-Ink and are dropping $150 or more.

Geeking Out Shop Belkin Auto Tracking Smartphone Stand

Facetime 360: Belkin Auto-Follow Phone Stand

For mom's who love to Facetime AND multitasking, there's no better stand than this one from Belkin. You place your phone on the to MagSafe stand, allowing you to go hands-free during Facetime calls. But the beauty of this stand is that it moves with you! If you're prepping dinner in the kitchen on a call, or trying to get the whole family in on a TikTok dance, this smartphone holder rotates 360 degrees. There are certainly cheaper options, but since I've tested the Belkin one I can say that it works flawlessly every time with no concerns about pairing, loud motor noise, or anything else. Plus when you're not using it for videos, it will charge your phone as a basic holder/charger.

Smart Audio: Beats Pill

Are we going heavy with audio recommendations in this guide? Yes (many more on the way)! But that's because it's a really versatile gift category. And versatility is a pillar when it comes to Beats products. Devices like the new Beats Pill play equally friendly with Apple and Android devices, which make them a fabulous choice. With the new Beats pill specifically, you get 24 hours battery life in a casing that looks sleek and is extremely resistant to water and dust (I've inadvertently tested this to dangerous degrees with no negative consequences). You can read our full review, but for excellent portable audio that's easy for anyone to use with virtually any phone or tablet, the Beats Bill is tough to beat (pun intended).

Geeking Out Shop Fotostream Shop

Family Photos: FotoStream Digital Picture Frame

There are a lot of ways to enjoy your digital photos and after careful thought, we're going to highlight the digital picture frames from FotoStream. They come in a variety of sizes (smallest is 7 inches, largest is 21.5) and there's a variety of ways to get photos on to this device (through the companion app, with an SD card, or a USB drive). If your mom is less tech savvy, she can share a code with you, allowing you to update the frame with new family photos for her. I like that the physical frame has interchangeable colours. I don't love that the app has limited features on the free tier. At this price point, you may want to consider something similar and more robust (like a Nest Hub 2). However, there's a simplicity to this that might make it a more appealing option depending on the recipient.

Luxury Gadget Gifts For Mother's Day

As mentioned, I've tried to separate my gift guide into two areas. The first contains gifts that are $200 or less. Which, for me personally, it the upper-end of Mother's day gifting budgets.

This Epson smart projector instantly elevates home movie night!

However, if circumstances are such that you need the ULTIMATE gift, I'm going to share some additional, albeit pricier items. While these are luxury gifts, I can vouch for every single thing on this list and say I've tested them and only include them because I think they're phenomenal.

Geeking Out Shop Pixel Buds Pro 2 Shop

Android audio: Pixel Buds Pro 2

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a nice upgrade to an already fabulous product. The active noise cancellation, embedded AI integration, and fantastic battery life make these earbuds a great pick for Android users!

If the mom on your list is new to the world of wireless earbuds (and an Android phone user) then the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a no-brainer. The audio quality on these is fantastic both for music but also for any time she's phoning to share the latest updates on the family. They're very intuitive to use, simple to set up, and with Gemini Live, mom can conversationally interact with her virtual assistant to ask for everything from tech support for her smartphone to gardening advice from Google. Note. Do not buy these if Mom is an iPhone user (we cover that in our next recommendation).

Geeking Out Shop Airpods 4 Regular Shop

Apple audio: AirPods 4

If your mom is an iPhone user, and you're thinking of getting wireless earbuds, going right to Apple is the best move. But once you start Googling "AirPods" you will be met with many options: "Gen 4? With ANC? What's ANC? Hang on, there's Pro? Is that the best?" For a gift, particularly if your mom hasn't used AirPods before, I'd suggest the basic AirPods 4 (not the "Active Noise Cancelation" ones) will be a delightful gift. If you have a little more room in the budget then splurge on AirPods 4 with ANC (has an upgraded case which is helpful if mom may be prone to misplacing). Geeking Out Shop Clicks Keyboard Miami Beach

Type Away!: Clicks Keyboard

For moms who remember the glory days of physical keyboards on BlackBerries, this smartphone accessory is an amazing throwback. While we specifically reviewed Clicks for iPhone 15 I have gone thumbs on with models for the iPhone 14 and 16 and even the at-this-point-unreleased-but-currently-up-for-pre-order Razr Model I can say this is a fantastic accessory that makes your phone even more productive. Also, for accuracy or even accessibility in some cases, having a smartphone with physical buttons could be a particularly desirable feature for a Mother's day gift. There's a variety of colours and you can pre-order versions for Google Pixel and Samsung phones, too.

Geeking Out Shop Dell Monitor

Multipurpose Monitor: Dell Monitor

For moms who are spending a lot of time at their desk, it could be time to upgrade to a better monitor. There's lots of options to choose from, but I picked this one from Dell because I believe it hits a sweet spot between size, features, and price. Whether it's surfing online, watching YouTube or streaming shows, or anything in between this is a nice display that won't break the bank for a gift idea. This monitor can be tilted to adjust for a better vieiwing angle, but it's height can't be changed up and down, so keep that in mind, or consider pairing it with our next gift suggestion!

Geeking Out Shop Pp Hiriseprodisplay Twolooks

Storage and Style: HiRise Pro

Again, for the home office/work station, if your mom is hunched over a monitor that's too low, then look at this option! Twelve South makes really good quality accessories that are also aesthetically pleasing. They're a little on the pricier side, which makes it a good gift idea since my may not want to splurge on this item for herself. The secret to this monitor riser is the storage underneath, which allows you to hide a dock, charging cables, or other accessories, keeping your desktop less cluttered. Bonus: this one has a reversible front plate for two different styles of finishes.

Geeking Out Shop Smart Ventilation Nest Learning Thermostat 4th Gen Large

So Cool! So Hot!: Nest Learning Thermostat

For the mom who likes to keep her house nice and toasty, consider the latest Nest Thermostat. While a thermostat, admittedly, seem like a very utilitarian (aka boring) gift, when your mom learns she can use simple voice commands or her smartphone to dial in the exact temperature she wants, this is going to be a huge hit. In our full review we also called out the great compatibility of this device (even with older homes), the elegance of the design, and it's skill at learning your routine to balance comfort and cost when it comes to healing and cooling your home.

Geeking Out Shop Rayban Meta Ai Shop

Smart Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Meta AI

These stylish sunny G's look like any other RayBans, but surprise! They're smart! These smart sunglasses have built-in cameras that allow you to easily take videos or photos using your voice or the tap of a finger, which makes them amazing when you're sightseeing on vacation. They have Bluetooth audio, allowing you to clearly hear music or take calls from your phone, but the design is such that the audio isn't noticeable to people around you. Plus, if you're in an unfamiliar place you can simply say "Hey Meta, what am I looking at?" and you can get information on whatever it is that you're looking at.

Geeking Out Shop Pixel 9a Case Orthos Product Photography

Pixel Power: Google Pixel 9a

Recommending a phone as a gift idea may be a stretch. People like to choose their own devices and colours and our phones are very personal. However, in case the Pixel 9a isn't on your radar, I want to make sure it is. This is a budget-friendly (or at least friendlier) phone with some impressive features. Particularly when it comes to AI photo editing (like removing unwanted people or objects from pictures, or even helping you take a photo of the whole group, including the photographer with Add Me the Pixel9a lifts some of the best feature's from Google's flagship phone, but costs hundreds less. For a deeper dive on this device, check out our full review here.

Geeking Out Shop Epiqvision Ef22 Epson Shop

Epic Smart Projector: Epson EpiqVision Mini EF22

For families who love a good movie night together, there's something extra magical about watching a movie on a projector. As you can learn more about in our review, Epson makes excellent smart projectors (the company does a lot more than just printers). What I love about this one is the ease with which you can set up and move it, while still getting top-notch visuals and audio quality. Whether it's indoors our outside under the stars, this is a perfect Mother's Day gift to ensure family movie nights are extra special for years to come.

Geeking Out Shop Muse S Athena Shop

Latest and Greatest: Muse S Athena

If mom could use a better night's sleep (and what parent couldn't?) then look into the Muse S Athena. This is the latest device from the company and in addition to helping you get to sleep faster and deeper and guiding your through meditation sessions, this smart headband can also help you train your mental fitness too. Thanks to an advanced sensor that can estimate blood oxygenation, this unique wearable can help you train your mental stamina for those times when you need added focus or a cognitive boost to get through a big day. There's a lot to know about this one-of-a-kind device (read our full review here), but in short, this could be the most important selfcare tool a mom could ever want.

Mother's Day is such a special time of year to celebrate the moms and mother-like figures in our lives. And there can be so much pressure on choosing the perfect gift, it can be difficult to come up with ideas that are personal or practical.
