We live in a blessed time when it comes to headphones and earbuds. The quality to price ratios are just incredible (no matter what your budget is).
I had ZERO intention of writing a review for the Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 headphones.
I received a pair of Beyerdynamic headphones somewhat unexpectedly in the midst of a particularly busy time for writing articles and making videos (I do a national TV segment about tech and video games which is awesome, but quite time consuming).
However, as I've been quietly testing these out intending to just use them for my own personal projects, I've come to learn they're so good, I need to try and help people who are shopping in that $250-$300 CAD headphone range (premium/pro-lite) at least know these exist as an option, because they are VERY good.
Beyerdynamic Background
The Aventho 100 try to marry features, with battery life, with style, and they do a darn good job of pulling these three essential headphone qualities together.
This should be no surprise since they've been at this a long time. Founded in Germany in the 1920s with a primary focus on speakers for theatres, and then introducing the first pair of dynamic headphones in the later part of the 1930s, this company has deep roots in the audio industry.
Look and Feel Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 Headphones
First off, these headphones look premium. They won a Red Dot Award, which is basically the Oscars for product design. You can tell they aren't just cheap plastic; they're made with high-quality materials like aluminum and textile elements. Aside from my tech and gaming stuff, I also do a daily radio show in Canada so I've used many different truly professional headphones that are meant for studio settings. And while they all have a minimum level of good quality - a differentiating factor into the feel that you have right before you crack the mic comes from the headphones you pick up.
And there's something vintage, timeless, and classy about the Aventho 100 in general, but particularly the pair I have which are brown, black, and silver. This is probably far too artsy for someone who, just this very week, did a radio segment about "Who is your favourite Sesame Street character," but each time I grab these and put them on, I feel like I'm connecting to a no-nonsense tool that broadcasters of any era would've appreciated (though my show is almost exclusively nonsense).
This is probably too fluffy of a reason for someone to consider buying headphones (I'll get into the nitty gritty in a moment), but truly, there is something pretty special about the look and physical feel of these headphones. Normally I don't love an on-ear design (I prefer over ear since if I"m wearing headphones I have them on for extended periods). But these ones are on-ear which helps them stay lightweight (only 220g) and compact.
The housing is also foldable, making them an ideal travel companion that can actually fit in your bag.
One of the best parts? The ear pads are replaceable. That's a huge deal for durability, as that's often the first part of a pair of headphones to wear out.
Vintage Look - Modern Features
Looks are great, but it's what's inside that counts, right? The Aventho 100 delivers "uncompromising sound" thanks to its powerful drivers, but the real magic is in the smart features.
- Active Noise Cancelling (ANC): This is your ticket to peace and quiet. Turn it on to block out the drone of a plane, the rumble of a train, or just the chatter in a noisy office.
- Transparency Mode: On the flip side, sometimes you need to hear what's going on. This mode uses the microphones to let the outside world in, so you can hear an announcement or order a coffee without taking your headphones off.
- Clear Calls: For all those mobile meetings, it uses Qualcomm cVc technology. That's a fancy way of saying it works to make your voice sound crisp and clear on calls, even if you're in a less-than-ideal spot.
Battery Life Beast
Looks are subjective (though as I've extolled I love the looks). But after audio quality, the battery life is going to be a very important factor in choosing your headphones. The battery life on the Aventho 100 is absolutely wild.
- Over 60 hours of playtime with ANC turned off.
- Up to 40 hours with ANC turned on.
And if you (somehow) manage to run it down and are in a hurry, it has a killer fast-charging feature: 15 minutes of charging gives you up to 15 hours of listening time. That is not a typo.
Let me put that in perspective: 40 hours is enough to fly from Toronto to Sydney... and back... with a layover.
But as someone who has been using these as often/more often as wired headphones, I really appreciate that they still work, even if the battery is totally dead. Being able to use them as "dumb" headphones even when they are out of battery is something that should be the case for all headphones, but shockingly is not (Example Beats Solo 4 yes, Beats Studio Pro no).
Smart Features for Real Life
These headphones aren't just pretty; they're smart.
- Multipoint Bluetooth 5.4: This has become the standard in modern headphones and earbuds. It lets you connect to two devices at the same time (like your laptop and your smartphone). You can be watching a video on your laptop, and it will automatically switch to your phone when a call comes in. No more re-pairing.
- Google Fast Pair: If you have an Android phone, setup is a breeze.
- beyerdynamic App: You can use the companion app to keep an eye on that massive battery, customize your sound, and get software updates.
- Codecs: For the audio nerds out there, it supports AAC, SBC, aptX Adaptive, and even aptX Lossless.
What's in the Box?
When you pick up a pair, you get the headphones, a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm aux cable (for when you want to go wired), and a soft carry bag.
The Bottom Line: Are the Aventho 100 Headphones Worth It?
Generally I've been pretty positive about these headphones and that's because there's almost no major complaints. Out of the box, I found the audio quality to be on the bass heavy side almost to the point of being muddy. Fortunately you can tune in your specific audio tastes using the beyerDynamic app.

Audio Elegance
The Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 looks like a serious contender for anyone who wants a single pair of headphones that does it all. They blend high-end, durable design with the smart features we actually use every day (like ANC and Multipoint) and wrap it all up with a battery life that feels almost impossible.
While these aren't the most high end or professional headphones in Beyerdynamic's lineup, I've been using them for my professional workflow and loving them.
If you're looking for a premium travel buddy or just a stylish set of cans to get you through the work week, these are definitely worth a look.
