Apple announced a major expansion of its smart home ecosystem, unveiling three new hardware products designed around a conversational, next-generation Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence:
Apple HomeView — An all-new tabletop and wall-mountable smart display.
Apple TV 4K (4th generation) — A supercharged living room hub featuring hands-free voice control and 4-speaker surround sound support.
HomePod mini 2 — A colorful update to Apple's compact smart speaker featuring a reactive light display called "Sound Glow."
Together with the newly introduced Apple Home Collection (a lineup of cameras, thermostats, and smart locks developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric), the devices mark Apple's most comprehensive bid to dominate the modern connected home.
1. Apple HomeView: A Personalized Smart Display
Apple's newest category addition, HomeView, brings together entertainment, communication, and home automation into a central household hub.
Display & Build: Features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display mounted on a domed speaker base via a smooth stainless steel hinge. It adapts display brightness from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits (ideal for nightstands) and adjusts UI density based on how close a user is standing.
Facial Recognition & Personal Context: HomeView can recognize up to six family members by face, automatically switching the Home Screen to display each person's private Messages, Calendar, Reminders, and custom widgets. Personal data stays hidden until the matching user is present with a unlocked, paired device.
Audio & Mounting Options: Includes two full-range drivers for Spatial Audio and a base-integrated down-firing woofer. A separate wall-mounted model (available in space grey and silver) supports custom installation hardware from Schneider Home.
Colors & Pricing/Availability: Tabletop models come in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space grey. Pre-orders begin today, with full availability starting November 13.
2. Apple TV 4K: Faster Performance and Hands-Free Siri AI
The updated Apple TV 4K upgrades the living room experience with higher processing power, hands-free operation, and elevated home theater sound capabilities.
A19 Silicon & AV1 Decoding: Powered by the new A19 chip, the streaming box boasts up to 50% faster CPU performance and double the GPU performance compared to its predecessor, alongside a dedicated AV1 hardware decoder for efficient streaming.
Hands-Free Far-Field Microphones: Three built-in far-field microphones with echo cancellation allow viewers to speak directly to Siri AI without picking up the remote.
Full-Screen Conversational Siri AI: Siri AI offers deep movie discovery, award queries, and contextual overlays that answer questions (e.g., age ratings or film locations) without pausing the show.
4-Speaker Surround Sound Setup: For the first time, users can pair Apple TV 4K with four HomePod mini 2 or four 2nd-generation HomePod speakers to create an automatically calibrated 4-channel surround sound system. Redesigned Remote: The included Siri Remote now integrates Apple Find My with Precision Finding and an onboard speaker to locate lost remotes. Pre-orders begin today; shipping starts November 13.
3. HomePod mini 2: Vibrant Colors and "Sound Glow" Visuals
The second generation of Apple's compact speaker focuses on dynamic ambient lighting, smarter assistant interactions, and seamless multiroom integration.
Sound Glow Technology: The top surface features a light canvas that pulses in real-time to music bass/treble and matches album artwork colors or relaxing ambient soundscapes (like rain).
Siri AI & Apple S10 Chip: Driven by the S10 chip and Apple's latest Foundation Models, Siri AI offers enhanced music discovery, natural multi-turn conversations, and personal context syncing across paired iOS devices. (Siri AI capabilities will arrive on HomePod mini 2 via an upcoming software update).
Mac Integration & Audio: Functions as an expansive desktop speaker for Mac computers in matching aesthetics, while enabling hands-free home hub functions and emergency Sound Recognition for smoke/carbon monoxide alarms.
Colors & Availability: Available in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight. Pre-orders open today, with in-store availability beginning Friday, October 30.

Worth The Hype
For most regular Canadian buyers, the new Apple HomeView is more of a nice-to-have luxury than a household essential. It will be interesting to see whether Apple fans will swap out their existing Echo Show devices (or Google Nest Hubs) for the magical and seamless Apple experience, or just wait untili their current devices age out of their utility.
However, the HomePod mini 2 is a far more practical pick for bringing Siri AI into smaller spaces on a budget. Meanwhile, the updated Apple TV 4K will appeal mainly to home theater enthusiasts looking for a four-speaker surround setup.
Apple hasn't announced updates to the standard full-sized HomePod, keeping its focus on introducing HomeView and refreshing its entry-level options.
