Ghost of Yotei has been at the top of my most anticipated list since the first reveal trailer, giving us a glimpse of the world we would soon explore.
From fiery sword clashes in burning villages to petals drifting through sunlit forests, the game drips with a unique samurai-western flair. I couldn't wait to dive deeper into the story of this mysterious masked warrior and her four-legged companion.
I've played through Ghost of Tsushima more times than I would like to tell anyone, and every time I finish, I find myself craving more. There's something about it, the weight of the sword, the calm before the clash. It's my comfort zone when I don't know what to play.
Ghost of Yotei is finally here, and it feels like coming home.
It brings back everything I loved about Tsushima, that sense of solitude, the sharp beauty in every strike but builds on it in ways I didn't expect. New weapons, new armor, and a new cast of faces waiting to be discovered. It's familiar, but with a chill in the air that tells you this story cuts a little deeper.
Ghost of Yotei One Paragraph Review
What makes Yotei so captivating isn't just its scale (which is satisfyingly fast to explore), but its attention to the quiet, human moments that unfold between battles. Ghost of Yotei thrives on these smaller, character and landscape driven stories that sometimes happen by accident. These special discoveries you'll recount to friends later, hoping they find their own versions. It's a world built for curiosity, for losing track of time, and for pushing your combat mastery further.

Ghost of Yotei
Ghosts of Yotei is a game-of-the-year contender. Between the beauty of the graphics, the quality of the combat, and the elegance of the story-telling, this is a game that seldom misses a step. All the hype you've heard is well-earned.
The heart of Ghost of Yotei: Revenge On the Yotei Six
Set 329 years after Ghost of Tsushima, it follows Atsu, a deadly ronin returning to her homeland of Ezo as she navigates a land caught between memory and myth.
The opening might be one of the best I've ever experienced in a video game.
The opening immediately throws you into the action with barely any backstory and setting the tone perfectly.
As you progress, you slowly uncover Atsu's connection to the Yotei Six while meeting allies who join your "wolfpack," helping you unlock new weapons and items along the way.
I can't say enough good about the combat.
Every encounter forces you to think: do you strike hard and fast, taking down one or two enemies in a dramatic stand-off, or work in the shadows, thinning the ranks with stealth kills before the main fight even begins? You'll gradually unlock tools like the trusty kuni, smokebombs, and Oni flame. And you'll need to swap weapons on the fly depending on what your enemies are wielding. Quick reflexes, situational awareness, and strategy are key to survival.
Another game highlight is having a wolf as your sidekick. This wolf companion isn't just for show, either. Coordinating attacks with them adds a whole new layer to combat, and the new bonding system brings an advantage to the battlefield. Every fight feels dynamic, unpredictable, and, above all, just plain fun.
Ghost of Yotei On PS5 A masterclass in cinematic story telling
Sucker Punch has delivered a knockout with Ghost of Yotei, a game that pushes cinematic storytelling to new heights. The way light dances across your blade to the subtle swirl of leaves blowing in the wind, every scene is carefully crafted. Even when Atsu is surrounded, outnumbered, and outgunned, her calm yet kinda cocky presence keeps me settled and it's clear she's going to be the last one standing.
Cinematic Visuals: The game world is stunningly crafted, offering breathtaking environments that are a joy to both explore and experience.
Refined Progression System: Unlocking new abilities and items feels seamless, ensuring you always have the right tools for the situation without ever feeling underpowered.
Familiar Yet Fresh: Fans of Ghost of Tsushima will feel instantly at home, with combat and upgrade systems that are recognizable yet enhanced with new twists.
Ghost of Yotei What we liked
Easily the highlight is the combat. When you die, (and yes you will die) it never feels cheap or unfair. Every defeat is a lesson: read the fight, use your surroundings, adapt, and overcome.
Ghost of Yotei What we didn't like
By the time you reach the end, all you want is more. I'm hoping they add a New Game Plus so I can experiment with different director modes, but even if they don't, I know I'll be returning to Atsu and the island of Ezo again and again.
The Bottom Line Is Ghost of Yotei Worth It?
Ghost of Yotei isn't just a game, it's an experience. Driven by its striking visuals and heart-pounding combat to the quiet, unforgettable moments that make the world feel alive, this is a title that demands to be played on the PS5.
If you call yourself a fan of action, adventure, or just unforgettable storytelling, this is one journey you cannot miss.

Ghost of Yotei strikes a perfect balance between familiar comforts for fans of Ghost of Tsushima and new ideas that make the journey feel fresh and unpredictable. Even when the game ends, you're left wanting more, eager to return to the forests, cliffs, and villages of Ezo. .
