The Switch 2 is here. While the launch lineup is a little thin, it's fun to explore the open roads (and world) or the latest Mario Kart game and also go back to some previous Switch titles and see their enhancements on the new console.

Once you get your Switch 2, you're going to quickly realize that in addition to that pricey console purchase, you're immediately going to want (or need) to dress up the console with some key accessories to further enhance your gameplay experience.

Travel Case: Belkin Battery Case

Belkin has made their first move into the console market by introducing a line of Nintendo Switch 2 accessories including screen protectors and cases. Their finest case leverages their excellent batteries by including one inside. This 10,000 mAh battery can keep your Switch 2 going on long flights or car rides (and it's removable if you want to share with your other tech). Plus it has spaces for an AirTag and cartridges (or should I say, game keys) in a rigid shell to protect your console.

Better Ergonomics: GameSir G8 Plus

Nintendo chose not to improve their joysticks on the Switch 2. This is surprising considering the drift issues that many people experienced and how many more options there are now besides the friction-based sticks the console uses. For a far better controller experience when in handheld mode you can slide your Switch 2 into the GameSir G8 Plus. It has hall effect triggers, physically swappable buttons and stricks, plus you can also use it with a smartphone or small tablet for non Nintendo games.

Nintendo's Official Version: Pro Controller

One of the first things you realize you need with the Switch 2 is a second controller. For couch co-op on Mario Kart World, it's just no the same trying to share two Joy-Cons. While there are a plethora of third-party options, we've only tried the official one from Nintendo so far. It's eye-wateringly expensive, but feels so good (even better than the one they made for Switch).

PNY Micro SD Express: Switch 2 - Expanded Memory

Unfortunately you won't be able to recycle your Micro SD card from your previous Switch since the new model requires Micro SD Express cards. To know you're purchasing the right one, look for a little EX on the card. Balancing quality, price, and availability, PNY has hit the sweet spot with their version which arrived just in time for the console launch. It comes in two storage sizes.

Corsair Gaming Headset: Void Wireless V2

Game Chat has been positioned as a cornerstone feature for the Switch 2. So much so that the controllers all have a dedicated chat button. For a better chat experience, or more immersive audio when you're gaming, consider adding a headset. This one from Corsair looks slick with the RGB lighting, sounds great, and if you have a collection of consoles, you'll be able to use this with PlayStation, Xbox, or PC, as well!

Switch 2 Camera: Piranha Plant Camera

Some games, like Mario Kart and Mario Party can bring you and your friends into the game when you use a compatible camera. While Nintendo does make one that matches the Switch 2, it lacks pizzazz. This one, has slightly worse resolution, but let's be honest, do you need great resolution for the video component of Game Chat, or do you want something that's gonna look cool next to your console?

The Switch 2 is an excellent piece of hardware, but admittedly needs a few more games to really make it a must-buy!

However, as a die-hard Nintendo fan, I really wanted to make sure I had the console at launch, and once I had the console, I quickly realized I needed some particular accessories to feel fully set up.
