While pre-orders have been active for months, the company just announced their launch pricing discounts are ending September 30th. And with that they've announced some huge updates which may finally push you over the edge if you've been waiting to buy.
The Clicks Communicator Brings Back Brick Breaker!
In the above video where Clicks announced upgraded specs, new accessories and more, approximately 2.5 seconds of the video made me stop in my tracks:
"And yes, Communicator will ship with Brick Breaker."
This delightful note of BlackBerry era nostalgia was very unexpected, but VERY welcome news! The total sum of the information we have is what I've just written above. Will it have the same levels as the original? The same power-ups? Can you use swipe the keyboard to control the paddle or do you have to use the buttons as demonstratted in the video?
Many quesitons linger, but this is some legit exciting news!
Bigger Battery For the Clicks Communicator
Moving into stuff that actually matters, the battery on Communicator is getting a boost from 4,000mAh to 4,350mAh.
This was one of the may news items included in the update video, but tech media legend CBK shared on crackberry.com that the battery size change is a result of the battery changing from silicon carbon to lithium ion.
In his post he explains that while silicon carbon is newwer, lithium ion will provide Communicator users a longer lifespan with their batteries. And with such an intentionally bulit device, it makes sense that those who order the Communiator will want a phone that lasts as long as possible.
50% More RAM for Clicks Communicator
There are several other updates that are coming for the Clicks Communicator ahead of it's release later this year. Significantly, base RAM is jumping from 8GB to 12GB, the device will launch with Android 17, and there are now accessories for the Clicks Communicator coming from D-Brand (colour-matched case and screen protector).
We also got our most detailed demonstration and explanation of the Signal Light to date. This is the feature where a glowing button illuminates in different colours or patterns based on notifications from apps or contacts that you specify.
For those who reserved a Clicks Communicator in advance, you can now configure your order (login to your account and choose your colour combo).
For those who haven't ordered the first smartphone from Clicks yet, then you only have a limited amount of time to lock in your order of the Clicks Communicator, before the price goes up.
