Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) has teamed up with the legendary creator of Death Stranding and Metal Gear for a device that is as much an art piece as it is a computer. Meet the ROG Flow Z13-KJP a portable gaming tablet that's equal parts cool, expensive, and rare.
ROG Flow Z13 KJP - 2026's Coolest Gaming Device?
If you follow the world of gaming, you know that Hideo Kojima is basically royalty. He's the mastermind behind Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid, and he is known for being... well, a bit eccentric and incredibly stylish.
During the official reveal at CES 2026, Asus announced that their next big collaboration is with none other than Kojima Productions.
Thanks to an Asus media preview in December, I've seen this thing in person and it's a work of art
It's tough to decide what their joint effort is more valuable as a computer or a collector's item. The spec sheet is as drool-worthy as the design, but the price is also going to be eye-watering. While it's hard to imagine a computer appreciating over time, if there ever was one to do this, it's possible it's this epic release. So you just may want to keep this tablet "complete in box" for the years ahead.
Designed by a Legend
Hearing about this, you may just assume it's going to be a tablet with a Kojima sticker on it. But seeing the ROG Flow Z13-KJP, you realize it's much more. The design is being helmed by Yoji Shinkawa, the lead design artist who has worked with Kojima for years.
Shinkawa is the guy responsible for the iconic look of the characters and mechs in Kojima's games, so you can expect this machine to look distinct.
The Vibe: It features the slogan "For Ludens who dare" and incorporates real carbon fiber into the chassis, which looks cool and keeps it lightweight (just 1.75kg).
The Software: It's not just the outside that looks different; it comes with a custom "Armoury Crate" theme, so the software interface matches the physical aesthetic.
ROG Z13-KJP The Specs
Asus wasn't kidding about this being a powerhouse. While it's a compact "tablet" form factor (similar to a Microsoft Surface, but for gaming), they have crammed an absurd amount of power inside.
Here is the breakdown of what makes the ROG Flow Z13-KJP tick:
The Brains: It's powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with Radeon 8060S Graphics. This is a massive chip designed for serious gaming and AI tasks.
Insane Memory: It supports up to 128GB of RAM. To put that in perspective, most high-end gaming laptops have 16GB or 32GB.
AI Powerhouse: Because of that massive memory and processor, this device can run a "70B LLM locally". Translation: You can run a wildly smart AI (like a private version of ChatGPT) directly on the laptop without needing an internet connection. After attending many press events focused on gaming in recent years, developer's are serious about how they can use the Neural Processing Unit on chips (that's the part focused on AI tasks) to make a genuinely better gaming experience.
The Display: It sports a ROG Nebula Display with a 180Hz refresh rate. This means games will look incredibly smooth, and with 500 nits of brightness, the colors will pop.
Cameras: It features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera with Windows Hello (face unlock), making it surprisingly capable for streaming or video calls.
The Box Is The Accessory
If you're a person who already keeps your tech boxes, this is one that you won't get teased for hanging on to. The packaging is over-the-top. You don't just get a cardboard box; the laptop comes inside a special case. Depending on where you buy it, you might also get a matching special edition mouse and mousepad to complete the setup.
An Investment Piece?
Because Hideo Kojima is such a massive figure in the industry, it's actually possible the price of this laptop is going to grow over time. Heck, just with the price of RAM going bananas, having a device with 128GB of RAM could be a good investment.
Of course, with any collector's item, you would, in theory, have to keep it pristine. For some collectors having a "complete in box" unit is going to be enough. But for others having a sealed unit on hand is the ultimate flex.
This means you have a tough choice: Do you keep it sealed as a pristine investment? Or do you crack it open to enjoy that 180Hz screen and 128GB of RAM?
The other BIG question is what the price will. Official Canadian pricing (where Geeking Out is based) wasn't confirmed (we'll update the article as soon as we have that info). So, unlike a special edition controller, this isn't one where a collector can buy two (one to keep sealed and one to enjoy) as the price for this kinda hardware on it's own is going to be a lot, nevermind featuring a collab with a gaming giant.
What would you do? Keep it sealed or play games on it? Let me know if you think this is genius or crazy! You can reach out to me on Instagram (@drewkozub) to share your thoughts.
