Information has finally surfaced about Microsoft's newest PCs.
Pun, definitely intended.
Two new portable computers are coming to Canada this month. The Microsoft Surface Laptop (traditional laptop form) and a new version of the Surface Pro (the unique tablet with a redesigned keyboard Microsoft pioneered years ago).
Surface and Copilot+ PC A brief Introduction
The latest Surface devices offer two form factors, two screen sizes, and further the options for those looking for a Copilot+ PC.
If it's been awhile since you were computer shopping, Copilot+ PCs were introduced in 2024 and differentiate themselves as being particularly AI optimized. They generally have long battery life and use a Neural Processing Unit for on-device AI tasks.
The quick background on that is on-device AI means things are faster and more secure, though depending on a few factors, can be more limited than cloud-based AI. So choose your own achilles heel.
What new surface devices are launching in 2025?
The gap between announcement and launch for Microsoft's latest surface devices is pretty small. With a May 6th reveal and a May 20th on sale date, if you're due for an upgrade (I'm still clinging to my Surface Pro 4 even though the battery is bulging dangerously against the display) you will have even more options to upgrade.
