October is affectionately known as Techtober in the gadget world. It is the time of year when so many different brands decide to launch an absolute avalanche of new products. Companies in the tech world are attempting to one-up each other ahead ahead of the busy holiday gift buying season by getting their products out now so you will (hopefully) spend your hard-earned cash on their latest gadget. .

If you spotted Drew Kozub on Breakfast Television today and wanted to learn more about the smart home or workout gadgets you saw, you've come to the right spot!

The Peloton Tread+ Vision is one of three new models that was released in October.

In this week's TV segment, we are highlight just a few of the many great products that have been unveiled this month. And in this article we'll dive deeper into the tech that can make your life a little more streamlined and a lot more fun.

Smart Fitness for Any Space

The month of October started with not one, not two, but three brand new models of treadmills going on sale from Peloton. One focuses on saving space when you're not running through the paces of a quality workout. While the other two capture the latest smart technology to help you workout safer and more effectively.

Peloton Tread Flex

Compact Smart Treadmill

Peloton has really delivered with the Tread Flex, offering a wonderfully glidey and smooth running experience that fits perfectly into tighter spaces. It folds up neatly to save room, which is a massive bonus for anyone trying to build a home gym in a spare bedroom or office (and a first in the Peloton tread lineup). The integrated screen brings all those fantastic Peloton classes right into your home without taking over the whole house. It is a fantastic option for walkers and runners who want premium features without the massive footprint.

Peloton Tread+

Ultimate Running Machine

If you have the space and want the ultimate indoor running experience, the Tread+ is an absolute beast of a machine. While the base Peloton Tread has a smart camera you can activate during workouts to use Peloton IQ to monitor your form during running workouts and strength training, the Tread+ takes the experience even further. The shock-absorbing slat belt gives you a seriously comfortable run that is incredibly gentle on your joints during those longer marathon training sessions. You can slide this into Free mode where the belt moves based on your manual effort of walking (providing a deeply fatiguing workout) or you can use this like a weighted sled drill to create up to 300 lbs of resistance to push through the toughest workouts.

Hands-Free Home Cleaning

Let's jump into the world of smart vacuums and mops, shall we? If it's been a few years since you examined the tech prowess of robot cleaners you may be surprised how far they've come. It's common now that these units are used for both vacuuming and mopping. Plus they'll have larger base stations to separate clean and dirty water and store the vacuumed up debris for longer periods of time without you needing to empty it.

But not all smart vacuums are created the same, so let's dig into the most advanced and the newest models from ECOVACS.

ECOVACS DEEBOT X12 OMNICYCLONE

Premium Robot Vacuum

Keeping the house clean with kids and pets is a never-ending battle, but the DEEBOT X12S OMNICYCLONE feels like absolute magic. It vacuums, mops, and then empties its own dustbin and cleans its own mop pads at the base station. The navigation is incredibly smart, meaning it easily avoids stray socks and toys scattered across the living room floor. The most noticeabile thing for me (as someone who has tested half a dozen different vacuums this year) was how the mopping process left absolutely no streaks on the floor once it was done, leaving the floor looking clean without actually looking like it had just been cleaned, ya know? It is a premium investment, but the amount of time you save every single week is totally worth it.

ECOVACS DEEBOT T90

Tangle-Free Vacuum

For homes dealing with lots of pet hair, the DEEBOT T90 is a total lifesaver. The ZeroTangle brush technology actually works to prevent hair from wrapping around the roller and causing frustrating jams. It also boasts impressive suction power and an efficient self-cleaning base station that takes the dirty work completely off your hands. It is a brilliant, fuss-free option for maintaining clean floors with minimal effort.

Effortless Entertainment

Chances are you have a TV. And chances are if you bought it in the last 10 years it's a smart TV with built in apps for streaming your favourite shows.

But chances are also that if that smart TV is five years or older, the display may still be fine, but the smarts are starting to show their age. Fortunately Amazon just introduced a new accessory to help you prolong the live of your smart TV by giving you a new plug-and-play "brain" for your big screen!

Streaming Media Player

Upgrading your older television has never been easier or more affordable thanks to the all-new Fire TV Stick 4K. It delivers incredibly crisp 4K Ultra HD video and supports advanced audio formats for a truly cinematic movie night at home. The interface is focused and easy to navigate, but the biggest upgrade may be in the Alexa+ experience. You can simply speak into your remote in a natural voice (not the "talking to robots voice" we use with so much of our tech) and it can help you find the perfect show or movie to watch based on your mood and description in that exact moment.

And blending the entertainent category with our earlier-mentioned fitness category, there's one pair of headphones that were revealed last month, but have a special incentive to pick them up before the end of October.

Beats has been making premium quality over-ear headphones and earbuds for years. But their newest model is doing something we've never seen before in their headphone lineup: their letting you physically change the style of your headphones to match your workout gear on any given day!

Sweat-Resistant Audio

If you're looking for an excercise-friendly pair of headphones, Beats 360 were literally made for you! They are uniquely sweat and water-resistant, which is very rare for an over-ear design, and the knit cushions keep things incredibly comfortable. The most unique feature of these is your ability to customize the style by swapping on and off interchangeable ear cushions. These have a "launch" price of $15 per pair (but jump up to $75 at the end of this month) and come in half a dozen colours. The noise cancellation is top-notch, completely blocking out background chatter and distractions.

  • $479 at Best Buy

And honestly, that's not even scratching the surface of the exciting tech from just October alone.

  • Apple launched their new lineup of smart home accessories plus they have their first foldable releasing Oct 23.
  • Amazon refreshed their tablets, introducing small screen and pro models under the Alexa Tablet banner.
  • A brand new Bluey video game launched on a variety of consoles this month giving the youngest gamers in your home a fun title made just for them for them.
  • And Microsoft just announced a new Surface Pro, beating Apple to the launch of their new MacBook Pro refresh which is remoured to be revealed before the end of October
